Live the living Word

‘I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts.’Psalm 119:100 ESV

If someone opened your Bible, would there be any evidence that it is being read daily? Would they find notes on the margins, underlined text, dog ears or markers on your favourite pages? Do people at your workplace or in the community know you’re a Christian? How do you behave behind closed doors at home towards your family?

It’s not enough to read God’s Word daily; you must practise its principles consistently. The psalmist writes: ‘Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; for they are ever with me… I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I may keep Your Word. I have not departed from Your judgments, for You Yourself have taught me. How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.’ (Psalm 119:97–105 NKJV) The Bible becomes living words when you decide to live according to its principles and precepts each day.
