Stay In The Game Till It’s Over

‘The Lord is the strength of my life.’Psalm 27:1 NKJV

Do you remember when you were young? You’d jump from trees and leap over rocks not worrying about what might happen if you missed. If someone dared you to climb this tree or jump over this stream, you just did it. Then as you grew up people would encourage you to “play it safe” and to not “take risks”. They were well meaning but the downside is that you can get too scared to go after the difficult goals, instead you settle for the safe option.

Ever watched a sports team who are winning go into defensive mode? Instead of trying to score again, they simply start trying to stop the other team scoring. The result is the other team, who are so desperate to win, try crazy moves, take chances and, by playing without fear, they win!

‘David said, “The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Living a life [of faith] means overcoming fear and adopting a “play to win” mindset… one that says even if you do fail you won’t give up or let your dreams die. Success isn’t automatically given to us, it’s pursued with all the energy and sweat we can muster. Obstacles and struggles are part of life… they make us appreciate success. If everything came easy we’d never know how it feels to succeed. Obstacles were meant to be overcome. Fear was meant to be conquered. Success was meant to be achieved. They’re part of life, and people who succeed refuse to give up till the game is over.’
