{"id":11989,"date":"2020-02-15T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-14T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ucbasiapacific.org\/?p=11989"},"modified":"2020-02-15T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-02-14T14:00:00","slug":"surrender-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.laiffm.org\/surrender-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Surrender (2)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u2018&#8230;Because you say so, I will&#8230;\u2019 Luke 5:5 NIV<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When we start to do things God\u2019s way instead of our own, we experience three great benefits. <i>First,<\/i> we have peace: <i>\u2018Submit to God, and you will have peace; then things will go well for you.\u2019<\/i> (Job 22:21 NLT) <i>Second,<\/i> we have freedom: <i>\u2018&#8230;I will live in freedom, because I\u2026 follow your orders.\u2019<\/i> (Psalm 119:45 NCV) <i>Third,<\/i> we have power: <i>\u2018&#8230;submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.\u2019<\/i> (James 4:7 NKJV) Stubborn temptations and overwhelming problems are defeated by Christ the moment we surrender. As Joshua approached the walls of Jericho he encountered God, fell down and worshipped, surrendered his plans and said, <i>\u2018What does my Lord say to His servant?\u2019<\/i> (Joshua 5:14 NKJV) Joshua\u2019s surrender led to a spectacular victory. It sounds like a contradiction to say: victory comes through surrender! But surrender doesn\u2019t weaken us, it strengthens us. Surrendered to God, we don\u2019t have to fear surrendering to anything else. <\/p>\n<p> William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, said, \u2018The greatness of a man\u2019s power is the measure of his surrender.\u2019 Eventually everybody surrenders to something. If not to God, we\u2019ll surrender to the opinions and expectations of others, to money, to resentment, to fear, to our own lusts or ego. We\u2019re free to choose whatever we surrender to, but we\u2019re not free from the consequences of that choice. E. Stanley Jones said, \u2018If you don\u2019t surrender to Christ, you surrender to chaos.\u2019 The supreme example is Jesus.
